Each designated Trauma Center shall have a Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) program. The PIPS program shall be multidisciplinary in nature with every member of the trauma team playing a vital role in PIPS. The Trauma Medical Director (TMD) shall maintain overall accountability for the execution of the PIPS program. The trauma program shall have the authority to monitor all events that occur during a trauma-related episode of care within the organization.
