Variances and exemptions may be issued by the Director in accordance with Sections 1415 and 1416 of the federal act. Treatment utilizing best available technology, as stipulated in Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations, Part 142, Subparts F and G, may be required in order to grant variances and exemptions under this regulation. Variances and exemptions shall not be issued if not allowed by the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations.
