Policies shall be established to control the administration of toxic or dangerous drugs with specific reference to the duration of the order and the dosage. The facility shall establish a written policy that all toxic or dangerous medications, not specifically prescribed as to time or number of doses, shall be automatically stopped after a reasonable time limit. The classification ordinarily thought of a toxic, dangerous or abuse drugs shall be narcotics, sedatives, anti-coagulants, antibiotics, oxytocics and cortisone products, and shall include other categories so established by federal, state or local laws.
