In an ICF-IID, handrails shall be installed on both sides of all corridors and hallways used by clients. The handrails should be installed from thirty-two (32) inches to thirty-six (36) inches above the floors. The handrails should have a return to the wall at each rail ending. An exception may be made for existing facilities. In addition, grab bars shall be installed in at least one bathroom beside the toilet and beside the lavatory in an ICF-IID Residential Community Home.
