The governing body shall utilize the advice of the medical staff in granting and defining the scope of clinical privileges to individual physicians, dentists and other practitioners requesting clinical privileges. If the medical staff does not include a physician or practitioner of the same specialty, the medical staff shall consult with the appropriate licensure boards regarding scope of practice before making recommendations to the governing body regarding clinical privileges.
