Rule 15-16-1-41.36.2

The hospital organizational plan shall provide for the identification of each special care unit and delineate appropriate relationships with other clinical areas of the hospital. Each such unit shall be under the direction of a qualified physician who has a special interest in, and preferable additional experience in providing, this type of care. This physician shall also be one who is readily available - The director of the special care unit should be responsible for the implementation of established policy, which should include at least:

1. Rules for proper utilization of the services.

2. Provision for participation in appropriate training programs for the safe and effective use of diagnostic and therapeutic equipment for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and for other aspects of intensive care.

3. Plans for supervision of the collection and analysis of clinical data needed for the retrospective evaluation of the care provided in the unit.
