Rule 1-5-5.11 - Notarizing documents which contain blank spacesA. A notary public may not perform a notarial act with respect to a document which is designed to provide information within blank spaces, when either of the following circumstances exist: 1. The missing information has not been entered into a blank space.2. The signature of an individual signing the document is not present, unless the individual is signing in the presence of the notary public.B. For the purpose of subsection (a)(1), missing information does not include: 1. An empty space with ''N/A'' or a line drawn through it.2. Additional signature lines designated for additional signers, if it is clear that the notarial act does not apply to the blank signature lines.C. A notary public performing a notarial act on nomination petitions or nomination papers with remaining empty lines for signatures shall mark a line through those blank spaces for signatures, or an ''X'' across the blank spaces for signatures, to prevent the later addition of signatures after the notarization.1 Miss.
