Part 6400.7020 - MINNESOTA COURSE REQUIREMENTSAn applicant must complete a course of study with a minimum of 40 hours in subjects necessary to perform the duties of an assisted living director in Minnesota, including:
A. person-centered care practices;B. vulnerable adult protection under Minnesota Statutes, chapter 626, including all reporting requirements;C. Minnesota statutes or rules governing assisted living, including survey compliance and preparedness; D. landlord-tenant law, including fair housing and consumer transparency in collateral;E. role of the state ombudsman, including coordination and collaboration roles of governmental authorities, and resident rights;F. elder care rights, including voice of the family, learning objectives, and addressing complaints;G. practice acts for the Minnesota health-related licensing boards, as defined in Minnesota Statutes, section 214.01, subdivision 2;H. client and family relationships; andI. health and wellness topics, including diets, nutrition, and hydration; basic concepts in gerontology and geriatrics; common conditions and diagnoses in an assisted living setting; and medication management and preventing diversion.
