Part 6232.4300 - [Effective until 3/1/2025] 2024 SEASON DATES AND QUOTAS FOR TAKING ELK
Subp. 1.Taking elk.

Elk may be taken by a licensed hunter using a legal firearm or a legal bow and arrow during seasons authorized by the commissioner.

Subp. 1a.Season dates.

Licensed hunters may take elk during the following 2024 seasons:

A. season A either sex: September 21 to 29;
B. season B antlerless only: September 21 to 29; and
C. season C either sex: September 21 to 29.
Subp. 2.Open areas.
A. The Primary Grygla Elk Zone prescribed in part 6232.4600, subpart 1, and the Secondary Grygla Elk Zone prescribed in part 6232.4600, subpart 2, are closed in 2024.
B. A license for the Kittson County Central Elk Zone is valid for taking elk within the elk zone prescribed in part 6232.4600, subpart 3.
C. A license for the Kittson County Northeast Elk Zone is valid for taking elk in the elk zone prescribed in part 6232.4600, subpart 4.
Subp. 3.Quotas.

The number of available licenses for the 2024 elk-hunting season is five in the Kittson County Central Elk Zone and five in the Kittson County Northeast Elk Zone, distributed as follows:

A. season A: three licenses in the Kittson County Central Elk Zone valid for either-sex elk;
B. season B: two licenses in the Kittson County Central Elk Zone valid for legal antlerless elk; and
C. season C: five licenses in the Kittson County Northeast Elk Zone valid for either-sex elk.
Subp. 4.Extension of hunt.

If the harvest is not sufficient to lower elk populations, the commissioner may reopen the Kittson County Central Elk Zone to legal antlerless elk hunting December 21, 2024, to January 1, 2025, by notifying individuals who purchased a 2024 elk license but did not tag an elk.
