Part 7511.0701 - SECTION 701, GENERAL

IFC section 701.1 is amended by adding an exception to read:

Exception: This exception applies to the following elements that exceed the requirements for new structures or facilities: existing fire-resistance-rated construction, existing construction to resist the passage of smoke, and existing opening protectives. When approved by the fire code official:

(1) maintenance of these elements is not required; and

(2) removal of these elements is permitted as long as any decommissioned equipment is clearly labeled as such.
