Part 1346.1004 - SECTION 1004 BOILERS
Subpart 1.Section 1004.1.

IMC Section 1004.1 is amended to read as follows:

1004.1 Standards. Oil-fired boilers and their control systems shall be listed and labeled in accordance with UL 726 or shall utilize burner assemblies and control systems listed and labeled in accordance with UL 296 and shall be installed in accordance with NFPA 31 and the manufacturer's installation instructions. Electric boilers and their control systems shall be listed and labeled in accordance with UL 834. Boilers with an input rating above 400,000 Btu/hr (3,660 kW) shall be designed and constructed in accordance with the requirements of the BPVC-2007 ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Sections I, II, IV, V, VIII and IX, as applicable. Boilers with an input rating above 400,000 Btu/hr (117 kW) and less than 12,500,000 Btu/hr (3,660 kW) shall comply with ASME CSD-1-2006, and boilers with an input rating of 12,500,000 Btu/hr (3,660 kW) or greater shall comply with NFPA 85-2007, Boiler and Combustion Systems Hazards Code.
Subp. 2.Section 1004.2.

IMC Section 1004.2 is amended to read as follows:

1004.2 Installation. In addition to the requirements of this code, the installation of boilers shall conform to the manufacturer's instructions. Operating instructions of a permanent type shall be attached to the boiler. Boilers shall have all controls set, adjusted, and tested by the installer in accordance with amended IMC Chapter 16. A complete control diagram together with complete boiler instructions shall be furnished by the installer. The manufacturer's rating data and the nameplate shall be attached to the boiler.
