Section R. 408.7068 - Inspection and test requirements for altered installationsRule 68. Section 10.5 of the ASME A18.1 code is amended to read as follows:
10.5(1) If any alteration is performed, regardless of any other requirements of the standard, then the installation, at a minimum, shall conform to the requirements of the Michigan elevator laws and rules and the applicable code requirements.(2) The alteration shall not begin until a permit is obtained from the department and the elevator shall not be placed into service until it has been inspected and tested in the presence of a general elevator inspector, except as provided in section 15 of the act.Mich.
