Rule 401. The provisions of the international building code, 2021 edition, including appendices F, G, and H, except for sections 104.2, 104.3, 104.8, 104.8.1, 104.10, 105.3, 105.3.1, 105.3.2, 105.6, 109.2 to 109.6, 111.2, 111.3, 113.2, 113.3, 113.4, 114.1, 114.2, 114.3, 114.4, 115.1 to 115.4, 423.5, 423.5.1, 423.5.2, 903.2.8.4, 2902 to 2902.6, Table 2902.1, section 3005.5, the definition of "agricultural building" in section 202, the definition of "recreational vehicle" in Appendix G, and IECC- 2021, IEBC- 2021, IMC- 2021, IPC- 2021, IPSDC- 2021, and NFPA 70- 2023, listed in chapter 35, govern the construction, alteration, relocation, demolition, use, and occupancy of buildings and structures, and, with exceptions noted, the international building code is adopted by reference in these rules. All references to the International Building Code, International Residential Code, International Energy Conservation Code, National Electrical Code, International Existing Building Code, International Mechanical Code, and International Plumbing Code mean the Michigan Building Code, Michigan Residential Code, Michigan Energy Code, Michigan Electrical Code, Michigan Rehabilitation Code for Existing Buildings, Michigan Mechanical Code, and Michigan Plumbing Code, respectively. The code is available for inspection and purchase at the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Construction Codes, 611 West Ottawa Street, First Floor Ottawa Building Lansing, Michigan 48933.
