Section R. 325.45319 - Sterilization; high-level disinfectionRule 319.
(1) A health facility that provides sterilization and high-level disinfection shall have sufficient space for both of the following: (a) The volume of sterilization and high-level disinfection processing to allow orderly work flow for instrument decontamination, instrument cleaning, assembly and packaging, and the number of sterilization units.(b) Unimpeded staff movement to avoid environmental contamination of supplies.(2) A health facility shall restrict access to sterile processing and high-level disinfection spaces.(3) Sterilization and high-level disinfection spaces must contain a work table, counter, handwashing fixture, sterilizer carts, and dedicated space for drying and storage.Mich.
