(1) Equipment originally equipped with a muffler shall have the muffler maintained when the equipment is in operation.(2) The exhaust pipes on each machine shall be located so exhaust gases are directed away from the operator and mounted or guarded to protect each employee from accidental contact.(3) An exhaust pipe shall be equipped with a spark arrester. An engine equipped with turbochargers does not require a spark arrester.Mich. Admin. Code R. 408.15146a
