Section R. 408.14965 - Removal from service; repairs; certificate of proof test; prohibitionRule 4965.
(1) A synthetic web sling shall be immediately removed from service if any of the following conditions are present:(a) Acid or caustic burns.(b) Melting or charring of any part of the sling surface.(c) Snags, punctures, tears, or cuts.(d) Broken or worn stitches.(e) Distortion of fittings.(2) A synthetic web sling shall be repaired only by a sling manufacturer.(3) Each repaired sling shall be proof tested by the manufacturer to twice the rated capacity prior to its return to service. The employer shall retain a certificate of the proof test and make it available for examination.(4) A sling, including webbing and fittings, which has been repaired in a temporary manner shall not be used.Mich.
