Section R. 560.420 - Soil profile evaluations for subdivisions and land divisionsRule 420.
(1) Any of the following persons demonstrating competence shall provide the results of soil profile evaluations to the department for the area designated for initial and reserve on-site sewage disposal systems: (a) A licensed professional engineer.(b) A professional surveyor.(c) A registered sanitarian.(d) A certified professional geologist.(e) A certified professional soil scientist.(f) A professional approved by the department. Soil profile evaluations shall confirm the existence of suitable soils on each development site that is less than 1 acre in size or proposed lot.
(2) The person conducting soil profile evaluations shall complete them to a minimum depth of 6 feet below the natural ground surface or 6 feet below the elevation that will exist after cutting unless waived by the department. Soil data shall be reported in accord with the United States department of agriculture (USDA) soil classification system. A soil profile evaluation shall identify all of the following: (e) Depth-to-high groundwater elevation or bedrock.(3) The person providing the results of soil profile evaluations shall complete them using either soil pits or soil borings.Mich.
