Section 26.18.01.01 - Organization and PurposeA. The Susquehanna River Basin Commission (after this, the Commission) was created under the authority of the Susquehanna River Basin Compact (after this, the compact). Signatory parties of the compact are the states of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York, and the United States. The Commission is a body politic and corporate, with succession for the duration of the compact, as an agency and instrumentality of the governments of the respective signatory parties. The members of the Commission are the governor or the designee of the governor of each signatory state and one member appointed by the President of the United States to serve at the pleasure of the President.B. Purposes of the Commission are to: (1) Encourage and provide for the planning, conservation, use, development, management, and control of the water resources of the Susquehanna River Basin;(2) Provide for cooperative and coordinated planning and action by the signatory parties with respect to water resources; and(3) Apply the principle of equal and uniform treatment to all users of water and of water-related facilities without regard to political boundaries.C.
