Section 10.44.12.29 - Continuing Education Requirements for Renewal of a PermitA. Renewal of a Class I, Class II, or Class III Permit.(1) Beginning in 2016 and thereafter, an applicant who seeks renewal of a Class I, Class II, or Class III permit shall: (a) Complete not less than 24 hours of clinical continuing education related to sedation or anesthesia in a classroom setting during the 5-year term of the permit; and(b) Maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification from one of the following programs: (i) The American Heart Association's Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers; (ii) The American Red Cross's Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for Professional Rescuers; (iii) The American Safety & Health Institute; or (iv) An equivalent program approved by the Board.B. Additional Requirements for Renewal of a Class I Permit. (1) In addition to the requirements outlined in §A of this regulation, an applicant for the renewal of a Class I permit shall: (a) Complete a Board-approved course of at least 4 hours that provides instruction on medical emergencies and airway management;(b) Maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification; or(c) Maintain Pediatric Advanced Life support certification (PALS). (2) The following courses may count toward the required hours of continuing education: (a) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course;(b) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course; or(c) A Board-approved course in medical emergency and airway management.C.
