Section 10.07.21.24 - Safety and Emergency PreparednessA. The hospice care program shall have a safety and emergency preparedness program that includes, at a minimum: (1) A plan for reporting, monitoring, and following up on all accidents, injuries, and safety hazards;(2) Education for patient and family caregivers, employees, and volunteers in the safe use of medical equipment;(3) Evidence that equipment maintenance and safety requirements have been met; and(4) A safe and sanitary system for identifying, handling, and disposing of special medical wastes that meets the requirements of COMAR 10.06.06.B. The hospice care program shall ensure that the emergency preparedness program provides appropriate continuous support and care to patients and families and other caregivers during natural or man-made disasters.C. The hospice care program shall monitor, review, and evaluate the safety and emergency preparedness program at regularly specified intervals.Md. Code Regs. 10.07.21.24
