Section 10.07.02.37 - Infection Control - Standard PrecautionsA. Standard Precautions. All employees shall routinely use appropriate barrier precautions to prevent skin and mucous membrane exposure when contact with blood or the body fluids of any resident is anticipated as outlined in: (1) 2007 Guideline for Isolation Precautions: Preventing Transmission of Infectious Agents in Healthcare Settings; andB. The infection prevention and control program shall include the handling of special medical waste as defined in COMAR 10.06.06.C. A nursing home shall maintain, at all times, the capability to physically isolate any resident who may contract a communicable disease from the remaining resident population. To provide for this, a nursing home shall have at least one private bedroom with an attached private bathroom that includes a: (2) Hand-washing sink; and(3) Bathtub, shower, or other bathing device.Md.
