Section 219-29-12 - Auxiliary LightingA. The use of electricity supplied by a 110-115 V generator or approved storage battery system for secondary means of illumination is permitted and shall be connected to the emergency lighting panels through an automatic throw-over switch which will operate immediately in the event of failure in the general lighting supply. At no time shall the connected secondary lighting load be greater than the rated capacity of the generator or storage battery system. The generator or storage battery system shall have sufficient capacity to supply the lighting circuits so connected for not less than one and one-half (1 1/2) hours. The automatic throw-over switch shall be connected so that when the principal lighting supply is restored it will throw back to normal operating position. Provision shall be made for automatic charging of all wet batteries of such lighting systems. Batteries and generators shall be inspected and tested at intervals of not less than once a week. The automatic throw-over switch shall be tested each day.B. No open flame shall be used for illumination or decorative effect.16- 219 C.M.R. ch. 29, § 12
