SEX EQUITY
A school administrative unit, operating in the State of Maine and approved by the Board of Education to operate vocational programs, must conduct activities which will ensure that sex discrimination and sex stereotyping are eliminated from any activity associated with the offering of a vocational program, service, or activity. In fulfilling the above requirements, technical assistance is available through the Bureau of Adult and Secondary Vocational Education. Financial resources are also available through the Vocational Education Act.
Where SAU's provide vocational programs, services or activities to single parents and displaced homemakers or special programs of sex equity to female and male students, these SAU's are encouraged to provide child care for the children of students as well as transportation where as economic need is shown to exist or where offering such a service will make vocational education more accessible.
