Section V-1509 - Shopping Centers Fire LanesA. Fire lanes shall be provided for all buildings that are set back more than 150 feet (45.75 meters) from a public road or exceed 30 feet (9.14 meters) in height and are set back over 50 feet (15.25 meters) from a public road in accordance with NFPA 1:3-5 (1992 Edition).B. It shall be the responsibility of the owners and operators of shopping centers and similar facilities to pay for and erect suitable signs notifying everyone that there shall be no parking within the specified area by order of the state fire marshal.C. The fire marshal, his certified local authorities, or local law enforcement officials shall remove any vehicle parked in any fire lane in the state of Louisiana by any means necessary and shall assess the cost of removal against the owner of said vehicle by storing said vehicle and refusing to release said vehicle until all costs incident to the removal and storage of said vehicle have been paid by the owner.D. Owners and occupants of the property on which fire lanes are located are hereby charged with the responsibility of notifying the fire marshal, his certified local authorities, or local law enforcement officials of the existence of any vehicles parked in those fire lanes; and in the event that they are unable to contact the fire marshal, his certified local authorities, or local law officials, the owner and occupant are hereby charged with the responsibility of and are hereby authorized to remove any vehicle parked in those fire lanes by any means necessary and to assess the cost of same against the owner of said vehicle by storing said vehicle and refusing to release said vehicle until all costs incident to the removal and storage of said vehicle have been paid by owner.La.
