Section I-13501 - DefinitionsA. An HIV-related test is a test which is performed solely for the purpose of identifying the presence of antibodies or antigens indicative of infection with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) including but not limited to: HIV antibody ELISA, Western blot and Immunoflourescent Assay (IFA) tests, HIV viral cultures, Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test for detection of HIV and HIV antigen tests.B. HIV test result is the original document, or copy thereof, transmitted to the medical record from the laboratory or other testing site the result of an HIV-related test. The term shall not include any other note, notation, diagnosis, report or other writing or document.C. Contact is a sex-sharing or needle-sharing partner, a person who has had contact with blood or body fluids to which universal precautions apply through percutaneous inoculation or contact with an open wound, non-intact skin, or mucos membrane, or a person who has otherwise been exposed to an HIV infected person in such a way that infection may have occurred as defined by the Department of Health and Hospitals regulations based upon Center for Disease Control guidelines.La.
