Section LXXIX-1301 - Substance AbuseA. Each school is encouraged to include in the curriculum a program of substance abuse prevention.B. Each school shall develop a method by which to mark drug free zones, including the use of signs or other markings suitable to the situation. Signs or other markings shall be located in a visible manner on or near each school and on and in each school bus indicating that such area is a drug free zone, that such zone extends to one thousand feet of school property, and that a felony violation of the Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substances Law will subject the offender to severe penalties under law. Refer to R.S. 17:405.C. Any instruction relative to alcohol, tobacco, drug, and substance abuse prevention and education provided pursuant to this Section will include the information that mixing opioids and alcohol can cause accidental death.La.
