Section LIX-1101 - Standard 1
A. The students will comprehend concepts and strategies related to health promotion and disease prevention.
B. Benchmarks 9-12. By the end of the grades 9-12 level students should know and be able to:

analyze the impact of behavior on health maintenance and disease prevention;

identify the causes, symptoms, treatment and prevention of various diseases and disorders (e.g., cardiovascular diseases, STDs, eating disorders);

describe interrelationship(s) of mental, emotional, social, and physical health throughout the life span;

explain the impact of personal health behaviors on the functioning of body systems;

(2,3,4)

1-H-5

describe the influence of family, peers, and community on the health of individuals; and

(1,2,4)

1-H-6

evaluate environmental influences on the health of individuals in their home, community, and world.
