Current through Register Vol. 50, No. 6, June 20, 2024
Section CXXXI-2301 - Period of Validity
A. The period of validity for a Louisiana lifetime teaching certificate is subject to the provision that the certificate holder does not allow a period of five or more consecutive calendar years of disuse to accrue, and/or the certificate is not revoked by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education acting in accordance with law. As applicable to certificate validity, the term disuse is defined as a period of five consecutive calendar years in which a certificated individual is not a teacher of record for at least one semester, or 90 consecutive days. If such a period of disuse occurs, the certificate has lapsed. Lapse does not apply to certificates renewable via the standards of effectiveness pursuant to Bulletin 130 and R.S. 17:3902.
