Section III-1301 - PurposeA. It is the purpose of this regulation to provide direction and guidance concerning the control of dissemination and correction of criminal history record information (CHRI) to individuals or agencies as required by the federal regulations (Title 28), through the maintenance of certain logs, and to provide a vehicle for correcting erroneous information. Since dissemination records are viewed by the regulations as a key restraint on erroneous dissemination, a deterrent to the illegal use of information disseminated and a supporting document to quality assurance audit trails (Chapter 15), the maintenance of logs is mandatory.La.
