Section 22-22-1 - Inspection of fire department vehicles(a) Each organized fire department, regular or volunteer, shall inspect every fire department vehicle at least annually and after that vehicle is involved in an accident to identify and correct unsafe or non-working conditions. Each fire department shall establish a preventive maintenance program. Inspections shall be performed by a mechanic chosen by the fire chief. All maintenance, inspections and repairs shall be performed in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines. The inspection shall include but is not limited to the following areas: (10) wheels and rims; and (b) Each fire department shall file, on January 1 of each year, a report of the vehicle inspections performed during the preceding calendar year on the form designated by the state fire marshal. (c) The state fire marshal may, upon written request and for good cause shown, approve alternatives to the inspections or reporting requirements of this regulation.
