The ring floor shall extend beyond the lower rope for a distance of not less than 18 inches. The entire floor shall be padded to the thickness of at least 1 inch with felt, corrugated paper, matting or other soft materials to be approved by the commissioner. A canvas covering stretched tightly and laced to the ring platform shall cover the padding.
