"Dental laboratory technician" as used in these rules shall include a person other than a licensed dentist who fabricates, constructs, makes, or repairs oral prosthetic appliances solely and exclusively for a licensed dentist and under the dentist's supervision or direction. A dental laboratory technician who performs any of the duties of a dental assistant, as defined in 650-20.2 (153), must be registered with the board as a dental assistant.
