Rule 571-30.53 - Program descriptions
(1)Water trails development program. The department will provide funds to cities and counties in the state of Iowa to plan and develop water trails throughout the state. The goal of the water trails development program is to assist and encourage the development of community-driven water trails that provide features described in statewide and local plans and herein.
(2)Low-head dam public hazard program. The department will provide funds to dam owners, including counties, cities, state agencies, cooperatives, and individuals, within Iowa to undertake projects that warn the general public about drowning hazards related to low-head dams or that remove or otherwise modify low-head dams to create a safer experience on Iowa's navigable waters and enhance fish passage, aquatic habitat, and navigation.
