Prior to the expiration of a permit, a permittee or an authorized agent may submit a written request by email to the department for an extension of the permit. In evaluating whether to grant the extension, the department will consider the work completed, the work to be performed, the extent to which the permit extension is needed and the extent to which the permittee has made efforts to meet the obligations of the original permit. The department reserves the right to modify the conditions of a permit as part of any extension. An extension granted by this rule is not a project modification.
