Rule 481-51.14 - Laboratory service

(1) The hospital must maintain, or have available, adequate laboratory and pathology services and facilities to meet the needs of its patients. The medical staff determine which laboratory tests are necessary to be performed on site to meet the needs of the patients.

(2) Emergency laboratory services must be available 24 hours a day.

(3) Laboratory services must be performed in a laboratory certified and operating in accordance with 42 CFR Part 493 as amended to November 7, 2023.
