Rule 21-96.3 - National criminal history record check(1) Disqualifying offenses.a. An applicant shall not be convicted of, or plead guilty to, a disqualifying felony offense. All applicants shall be subject to a background investigation conducted by the department of public safety, including but not limited to a national criminal history record check.b. The department or the department of public safety may request additional information to complete a background investigation and national criminal history background check. An applicant or authorized representative shall respond within 30 days to any request for additional information. Failure to timely respond shall result in a denial of the license application.c. The department may deny any application for good cause.(2) An applicant and authorized representative shall provide fingerprints to the department. The department shall provide the fingerprints to the department of public safety for submission through the state criminal history repository to the federal bureau of investigation.(3) The applicant shall pay the actual cost of conducting any national criminal history record check to the department.(4) The results of a national criminal history check may be valid for three consecutive license years unless a drug-related felony conviction occurs after the issuance of the national criminal history record check results.Iowa Admin.
