When used in this regulation:
"Commissioner" shall mean the insurance commissioner of Iowa.
"Contracts on a variable basis" or"Variable contract" shall mean any (group or individual) policy or contract issued by an insurance company which provides for insurance or annuity benefits which may vary according to the investment experience of any separate or segregated account or accounts maintained by the insurer as to such policy or contract, as provided for in Iowa Code sections 50831. and 50832..
