Sec. 89.
The specific control measures for chlamydial infections, genital (infectious agent: Chlamydia trachomatis) (see psittacosis for infections caused by Chlamydia psittaci) are as follows:
(1) An investigation by the local health officer shall be:(A) performed within seventy-two (72) hours; and(B) focused on identifying sexual partners who were at risk for transmitting to, or contracting the infection from, the case. Case and contacts shall be fully evaluated and treated as recommended in the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Treatment Guidelines, 2010, Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, December 17, 2010, Volume 59, No. RR-12. Expedited partner therapy is allowed for the treatment of sex partners for chlamydia (http://www.in.gov/isdh/files/EPT_Guidance_Document.pdf).
(2) For hospital patients, standard precautions shall be followed. Appropriate antibiotic therapy renders discharges noninfectious.
