Section 410 IAC 1-2.5-28 - "Droplet precautions" defined

Sec. 28.

"Droplet precautions" means safeguards intended to prevent droplet transmission of infectious agents. Droplet transmission involves contact of the conjunctivae or the mucous membranes of the nose or mouth of a susceptible person with large-particle droplets (larger than five (5) micrometers in size) containing microorganisms generated from a person who:

(1) has a clinical disease; or
(2) is a carrier of the microorganism.
