Section 312 IAC 29-22-7 - Notification requirements to the oil and gas inspector

Sec. 7.

(a) At least twenty-four (24) hours before commencing a well stimulation using five thousand (5,000) barrels of total fluid or more, the owner or operator shall notify the oil and gas inspector of the intention to commence well stimulation operation.
(b) The owner or operator shall cease stimulations operations and verbally notify the oil and gas inspector as soon as practicable but no later than twenty-four (24) hours following the occurrence of any of the following incidents during well stimulation regardless of the amount of fluid used in the stimulation treatment operation:
(1) Hydraulic fracturing treatment fluids are returned back to surface due to failures of the casing, tubing, packer or cement, or when discharged from a pressure relief valve installed under section 5(b)(7)(A) of this rule.
(2) The annulus pressure being monitored increases more than four hundred (400) pounds per square inch during well stimulation.
(3) A spill or discharge of greater than one (1) barrel of any stimulation fluid or frac flow-back fluid occurs during well stimulation.
