Section 16.06.01.551 - REPORTING ABUSE, NEGLECT, OR ABANDONMENTProfessionals and other persons identified in Section 16-1605, Idaho Code, have a responsibility to report abuse, neglect, or abandonment and are provided protection for reporters.
01.Ministers. Duly ordained ministers of religion are exempt from reporting child abuse, neglect, or abandonment if:a. The church qualifies as tax-exempt under 26. U.S.C. 501(c)(3);b. The confession or confidential communication was made directly to the duly ordained minister of religion; andc. The confession was made in the manner and context that places the duly ordained minister of religion specifically and strictly under a level of confidentiality that is considered inviolate by canon law or church doctrine.02.Health and Welfare Employees. All Department of Health and Welfare personnel are responsible for recognizing and immediately reporting to Child and Family Services or to law enforcement any concern regarding abuse, neglect, or abandonment of a child or children.
