Section 16.03.08.010 - DEFINITIONS
01.Agency Error. Abenefit error caused by the Department's action or failure to act.
02.Applicant. An individual who applies for Temporary Assistance for Families in Idaho.
03.Assistance. Cash payments, vouchers, and other benefits designed to meet a household's ongoing basic needs. Assistance includes recurring benefits, such as transportation and child care, conditioned on participation in work activities.
04.Caretaker Relative. An adult who is a specified relative, other than parents, who has an eligible related child residing with them and who is responsible for the child's care. Only one (1) child in the household must be related to one (1) of the following specified relatives: brother, sister, aunt/great aunt, uncle/great uncle, grandparent/great grandparent, nephew, niece, cousin, any one (1) of these relationships by half-blood, a step-sibling, or a spouse of a relative by marriage, even if the marriage has ended.
05.Department. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.
06.Dependent Child. A child under the age of eighteen (18).
07.Good Cause. The conduct of a reasonably prudent person in the same or similar circumstances, unless otherwise defined in these rules.
08.Household. A unit of eligible individuals that includes parents, or may include caretaker relatives who have an eligible child residing with them.
09.Inadvertent Household Error (IHE). A benefit error caused unintentionally by the household.
10.Noncustodial Parent. A parent legally responsible for the support of a dependent minor child, who does not live in the same household as the child.
11.Parent. The mother/step-mother or father/step-father of the dependent child. In Idaho, a man is presumed to be the child's father if he is married to the child's mother at the time of conception or at the time of the child's birth.
12.Participant. An individual who has signed a Personal Responsibility Contract.
13.Personal Responsibility Contract (PRC). An agreement negotiated between a household and the Department that is intended to result in self-reliance.
