No person hunting may wound or kill any big game animal, upland game animal, game bird, or furbearing animal without making a reasonable effort to retrieve it and reduce it to possession. Every such animal wounded by hunting and reduced to possession must be killed immediately, such that it becomes part of that person's daily bag and possession limit.
