Section 6-21-6 - Teachers(a) For employees classified as teachers, a year of service shall be computed on the basis of a school year, which shall be from September 1 to August 31. If service is terminated earlier through death or retirement, service shall be computed to the date of death or retirement.(b) A fractional month of employment shall be considered one full month of employment if it meets the requirements of section 6-21-4; provided that if absences without pay total two and one-half months or more in any one semester, one additional month shall be excluded in computing a year of service.[Eff 11/9/81; am and comp 2/9/89] (Auth: HRS §§ 88-28, 88-50) (Imp: HRS § 88-50)
