Section 4-29-25 - Approved service dog and guide dog training programsTo be added to the list of approved service dog and guide dog training programs for purposes of this subchapter, a service dog or guide dog training program shall meet the following criteria:
(1) The training program shall meet accreditation standards for service dogs and guide dogs established by Assistance Dogs International, Inc.; or(2) Dogs shall be required to have their first rabies vaccination administered at three months of age or greater;(3) A second rabies vaccination shall be required and the time interval between the two rabies vaccinations shall have been at least thirty days;(4) All dogs in the training program shall be vaccinated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian or licensed veterinary technician under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian;(5) Before taking a service dog or guide dog from an approved training program, the user shall be instructed on the proper care, maintenance, and training for service dogs or guide dogs, including proper veterinary care;(6) For all dogs that continue to be owned by the training program, the training program has a policy or practice requiring that veterinary records of its service dog or guide dog graduates, including but not limited to rabies vaccinations, be made available to the training program at the training program's request.[Eff 06/06/98; am and comp 07/10/00; comp 06/30/03; am and comp 02/12/04; comp 10/31/05; am and comp SEP 28 2009] (Auth: HRS § 142-2) (Imp: HRS §§ 142-3, 142-6, 142-11, 142-12)
