Section 4-16-20.2 - Diseases and investigationThe State Veterinarian is authorized to investigate the disease status of cattle in the State showing clinical signs of disease or poor health.
(a) When an investigation by the State Veterinarian determines that a regulated or reportable disease or disease of high economic consequence is suspected or diagnosed, the State Veterinarian is authorized to take actions as provided in HRS § 142-6.(b) When no infectious disease is suspected or diagnosed and adverse physical state is determined to involve animal husbandry related causes, the division may advise the owner or refer the owner to university extension agents or private veterinarians for assistance. In the event that the owner refuses to take recommended corrective actions, the State Veterinarian may refer the case to the humane agencies for the county.[Eff. 12/22/2023] (Auth: HRS § 142-2)
