Section 3-177-153 - Voter registration forms; electronic transmission by government agencies(a) To the extent a government agency serves as a voter registration agency or is associated with a state motor vehicle authority, the agency may electronically transmit the information required to register a voter, if the voter has signed the equivalent of a voter registration form at the voter registration agency. The information transmitted will be considered the equivalent of an original of the voter registration for all purposes. As it relates to the data. sent the voter registration agency shall also send a copy of the digitized signature in the voter registration agency's database. The digitized signature may be used by election officials to validate and confirm a voter's identity in any election-related matter in which a signature is necessary. (b) "Voter registration agency" for purposes of this rule means any office designated under Section 7(a) (1) of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, as amended, as a voter registration agency.(c) "Associated with a state motor vehicle authority" means any office involved in the issuance of a personal identification document typically issued by a state motor vehicle authority under Section 5 of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, as amended.
