Section 19-133.2-38.5 - Special interest vehiclesSpecial interest vehicles shall be inspected the same as other vehicles except for the following. If there is a conflict between this chapter and section 286-26.5, HRS, section 286-26.5, HRS shall prevail.
(1) Street rod vehicles and street rod replica vehicles are required to have the following equipment: (A) Hydraulic service brakes on all wheels;(B) Sealed beam or halogen headlights;(C) Turn signals and a turn signaling switch;(D) Safety glass or Lexan windshield;(E) Electric or vacuum windshield wiper located in front of the driver;(F) Standard or DOT/SAE approved taillights;(G) A parking brake that operates on at least two wheels on the same axle;(H) Seat belt assembly as provided in section 291-11.6 HRS; and(I) Other equipment must comply with this chapter where applicable. Windshield washers, bumpers, hoods, door handles, and fenders are optional equipment. If a bumper or hood is installed, it must be inspected.(2) Special interest vehicles that are neither a street rod nor a street rod replica shall comply with the applicable requirements of this chapter, except for FMVSS requirements.
