Section 17-896-23 - Admission of children with handicaps(a) When children with handicaps are admitted to the program, the facility shall provide for the special needs of each child.(b) The handicapped child shall be admitted only after consultation with the child's source of health care and the program's health consultant. The consultation shall include written recommendations to cover the child's special needs or to define the child's participation in the program.(c) If the child's health care source considers it advisable, the staff of the program shall receive training related to the nature of the child's disability and the child's potential for growth and development before the child is admitted to the facility.(d) Where the nature of the child's handicap or the number of handicapped children in the program necessitates added care, staff and equipment shall be available to cover these requirements.[Eff 2/9/89; comp DEC 19 2002] (Auth: HRS § 346-162) (Imp: HRS § 346-162; 42 U.S.C. §§2002, 2005, 9833 )
