Section 17-891.2-44 - Admission of ill children(a) When health policies of the child care facility allow ill children to be admitted or to remain in the child care facility, health consultation shall be available regarding special care and medication.(b) When medication prescribed by a physician is administered at the facility: (1) Written permission from the child's parent or guardian to administer medication is on file;(2) The medication shall be kept in the original container bearing the prescription label which shows a current date, the physician's directions for use, and the child's name; and(3) Medication shall be kept out of the reach of the children and shall be returned to parents or guardians when no longer in use.(c) When over-the-counter medication is recommended by the child or family's doctor, medication shall be administered at the child care facility as directed by the doctor or parent or guardian in writing.(d) Both the provider and the parents or guardians shall be familiar with special policies of the facility relevant to ill children. Special policies regarding illnesses are to be explained to the parent or guardian at the time of enrollment of the child.(e) Physical arrangements that are clean and safe for children who become ill after arrival at the facility shall be available for the care of the child until the parents or guardians can be notified to provide alternative arrangements.Haw.
